Watch repair workshop

Built on Precision and Patience

Arcwright was founded on the belief that watch repair should be approached with the same care and attention that went into creating these timepieces.

Our Story

Arcwright began in 2014 when founder Chen Wei-Lin recognized a need in Taichung for watch repair that prioritized thorough understanding over quick turnaround. After years of training under master watchmakers in Switzerland and Japan, Chen returned to Taiwan with a commitment to bringing that same level of care to the local community.

The workshop started small, focusing on mechanical movements that required patient, methodical attention. Each watch was treated as a learning opportunity, with detailed notes kept on unusual calibers and repair challenges. Over time, this approach built a reputation among collectors and enthusiasts who valued precision over speed.

Today, Arcwright continues to operate from the same principles: take the time needed, use the right tools, and treat each watch with the respect it deserves. The workshop has grown, but the core philosophy remains unchanged.

Our Standards

The protocols and practices that guide our work at every step.

Professional Equipment

All diagnostic and service work uses calibrated timing machines, ultrasonic cleaners, and precision measuring tools maintained to manufacturer specifications.

Documentation Practice

Each service includes detailed records of work performed, parts replaced, and timing results. This documentation travels with the watch for future reference.

Parts Authenticity

Replacement parts are sourced through established networks with traceable provenance. Compatibility is verified before installation.

Secure Handling

All watches in our care are stored in controlled environment with documented chain of custody. Insurance coverage is maintained throughout the service period.

Monitoring Protocol

After reassembly, movements are monitored for at least 48 hours in multiple positions to verify consistent performance before return.

One-Year Workmanship Assurance

All servicing includes coverage for the work performed. Issues related to our service within one year are addressed without additional charge.

What Guides Our Work

Respect for the Craft

Watch repair is a discipline that requires both technical skill and historical knowledge. We approach each movement with awareness of its design lineage and the engineering decisions that shaped it. This respect informs how we handle unusual calibers and guides our choices when restoration work is needed.

Honest Communication

Before beginning work, we provide a clear explanation of what the watch needs, why it needs it, and what the realistic outcomes will be. If we encounter complications during service, we communicate those changes promptly. Transparent conversation builds the foundation for good working relationships.

Appropriate Pacing

Quality work cannot be rushed. Each movement has its own requirements for proper disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly. We allocate time based on what the caliber needs rather than arbitrary schedules. This pacing allows us to catch issues early and address them properly.

Continuous Learning

The field of horology continues to develop, with new techniques and tools emerging alongside traditional methods. We maintain relationships with other professionals, attend technical workshops, and study repair literature to keep our knowledge current. Each unusual watch that comes through the workshop adds to our collective understanding.
